We collect account and service information you provide, such as your email address when you create an account, subscribe to an alert, or pass an email gate. Logged-in accounts may retain search history so we can provide quotas and account features. Stripe processes payment details; CigarMatrix stores subscription status and Stripe account references, not full card details.
We also collect product-usage analytics. This can include page routes, filter choices, search length and token count, result counts, response timing, listing and retailer identifiers, email-gate outcomes, and account or subscription lifecycle events. We do not send raw search text or submitted email addresses to PostHog event properties.
We use this information to operate accounts and alerts, enforce search limits, process subscriptions, diagnose failures, understand conversion and retention patterns, and improve cigar discovery and retailer comparisons.
We use PostHog for product analytics and Google Analytics for site analytics. PostHog assigns an anonymous browser identifier and, after login, associates product events with the account's internal Supabase UUID. We do not use an email address as the analytics identifier. PostHog DOM autocapture, performance capture, and session recording are disabled in our client configuration, and PostHog honors browser Do Not Track settings.
Analytics and authentication may use cookies or local storage. The site also stores non-sensitive session counters and an email-gate completion marker; it does not store the submitted email address in that marker.
You can change PostHog collection for this browser below. This control applies to PostHog only; browser privacy controls and content blockers can also limit other analytics.
PostHog analytics is currently enabled in this browser.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
CigarMatrix contains affiliate links to external retailers. Those retailers have their own privacy practices, which you should review before making a purchase.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards and limit analytics payloads to fields needed for a defined product decision. Information is retained according to operational, security, legal, and product-analysis needs.
We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date above will be updated when we do. If you have privacy questions or requests, contact us through the website.
